Chelsea FC
This year we are again delighted to welcome the Chelsea FC Foundation, the Premier League club’s community division, to the tournament. Their huge inflatable pitch will be available for all throughout the weekend.

Equipment

All players should be equipped with their official team strip (either their usual club shirts or shirts in the colour of their BROCKHAM 2014 allocated World Cup country) plus appropriate football footwear and shin pads.  Shin pads are compulsory.  No player will be permitted to participate in any match without shin pads.  It is likely that the pitches will be very firm in June so please advise all players to bring trainers as well as studs.

All team managers must provide a set of bibs.  In the event of a kit clash these bibs will be worn by the “away” team according to the match schedule published on the day.

Face Painting
We’d really love everyone to get into the spirit of the tournament and add to its colourful spectacle by getting painted up!  The Face Painting Tent will be open each day from 9am for you to have your battle paint applied.  Go on – it’ll be great!

Fair Play Award
Fair Play Awards, kindly sponsored by Premier Sports, will be presented along with winners’ trophies.  Fair play nominations will be made by Match Officials to the Competition Centre.  A team from every age group will be awarded with this special recognition on each day.  Even if you have not made the finals, you may well receive this award, so make sure you stay around for the awards ceremony.

First Aid
First Aid services will be provided throughout the tournament courtesy of the British Red Cross.  Please, however, would each Team Manager follow FA guidelines and bring your own first aid kits with you also.

Food & Drink
There will be plenty of food, drink, and refreshments available to purchase throughout the weekend.  These will include:

  • BBQ offering breakfast (from 8:00am) and lunch (from noon).
  • Sandwiches and baguettes.
  • Fully Licensed Bar with Beer, Cider, Wine and Pimms.
  • Squash Bar providing all children unlimited squash or water FREE all day.
  • Sweet and Cake Shop.
  • Ice Creams and Ice Lollies.

Insurance
Brockham Badgers FC does not accept any responsibility whatsoever for the safekeeping of players’, team officials’, or spectators’ personal property - nor any liability for injury sustained prior to, during or after the competition. Brockham Badgers FC is affiliated to Surrey County Football Association Limited and holds public liability insurance under their Football Scheme. This provides standard insurance cover for the club against liability to pay damages and costs in respect of personal injury to any person or loss or damage to property.  Any potential claim should be notified immediately to a club official.

Informed Consent
BROCKHAM 2014, by its very nature, is in the public arena and, when entering for the event, the participant and their parents acknowledge this fact, which may result in the recording and publication of his/her image.

BROCKHAM 2014 is pleased to announce that DE Photo has been appointed as the Professional Sports Photographers for this event.  All DE Photo photographers and staff have been CRB checked and the company operates a strict Child Protection Policy and Code of Ethics which can be viewed on their website http://www.dephoto.biz/customer-service/code-of-ethics.aspx.

Keep BROCKHAM 2014 Tidy
IMPORTANT.  The Big Field is National Trust land.  Please respect others’ enjoyment and the environment by ensuring your team and the vicinity they occupy is left clean and tidy.  There will be plenty of rubbish and recycling bins located throughout the site on the weekend and each team will receive a refuse sack in their day-packs on the day.  Please would each team manager allocate a Rubbish Monitor for the day.

Lost Children, Lost Property, & General Information
Lost children must be brought to the attention of the Competition Centre immediately.  The Tournament Team has a strict and effective plan of action for such eventuality which could prove critical in finding any lost child safely and quickly.

The Competition Centre will act as a general information point throughout the BROCKHAM 2014 tournament, including a deposit or collection point for lost property.

Match Results & League Positions
All match results and league positions  will be posted at regular intervals throughout each day at the Competition Centre.  This location will be clearly marked on the site map published and available on the day.

Match Schedules
There are over 300 matches being held on each day of the tournament, so it is vital that each Team Manager pays great attention to their schedule.

First matches will start promptly at 9:30am each day.  Any team not registered and available to play by their allotted time will forfeit the game by virtue of a 1-0 win in favour of their opponents.  We will exercise some discretion and flexibility throughout the day, but the Match Official’s decision is absolute and final, and it is essential the first matches kick-off strictly at 9:30am.

A list of your actual opponents in your qualifying league is enclosed, as is a full match schedule with the nominated World Cup national teams named.  A full schedule with the actual names of each team in the entire tournament will be disclosed on the day within the official BROCKHAM 2014 tournament programme.

No Dogs
Dogs are not permitted on The Big Field during BROCKHAM 2014.  Please do not bring your dogs to the tournament.

No Smoking
Any enclosed or indoor area such as the Competition Centre and Clubhouse are designated as strictly no smoking areas.  Whilst a complete smoking ban has not been applied to the whole area of the tournament, please be conscious that this is a children’s sporting festival and therefore a discreet, conscientious, and suitable approach to smoking habits is expected.

It is imperative that all smokers please respect the National Trust land upon which the tournament is hosted and ensure they do not discard cigarette butts on the ground.

Officials Perimeter
All spectators must observe a 1m (one metre) area from each pitch touchline. Only players, Team Managers, and Match Officials may encroach within one metre of the pitch.  Please ensure all equipment and spectators remain behind this line throughout the tournament.

Other Activities
BROCKHAM 2014 has a number of other activities planned for each day of the tournament.  These include:

  • Face painting
  • Free Chelsea inflatable match pitch for informal games.
  • Free Players’ Raffle

Please encourage participation in as many events as you can, but do keep an eye on where your players are.  Remember, matches must start on time.

Player & Spectator Conduct
Any player sent off the field of play, or reported by the referee for misconduct before or after a match, will not be allowed to take any further part in the competition.  All cases of misconduct shall be reported and dealt with by the Surrey County FA.

Any player or spectator reported for violent or abusive behavior or unacceptable language on or off the field of play will be dismissed from the premises of the competition and will risk the disqualification from the rest of the competition for the team they represent.

Player of the Tournament
Brockham Badgers FC will be presenting a football to EVERY team competing.  We would ask that managers award this to their Player of the Tournament as a memento of fair and dedicated competition with our thanks.  You will receive your football when you sign out at the Competition Centre prior to leaving the tournament.

Players Raffle
Inside the event programme there will be an entry slip for our players’ raffle which includes a child’s mountain bike and 2 tickets to a Chelsea home game, on each day. These will go into a Players’ Raffle Draw to be announced around lunchtime each day.  Prize winning tickets will be announced and published at the Competition Centre for collection.  Prizes will only be awarded to those in attendance.

Programmes
Please buy a programme and encourage others to do likewise. As well as providing additional information regarding the tournament and a site plan the programme also includes a full match schedule for your team including pitch location and timings. Programmes will be on sale for £2 throughout the weekend; unlike many sporting events, parking and general admission is FREE and as such programme sales are one of our main sources of income..                                          .

Tournament Day-Pack
Upon registration on the actual tournament day each Team Manager will receive a Tournament Day-Pack.  This will include:
  • Eight blank BROCKHAM 2014 certificates – one for each player to be completed and issued by you at the end of the tournament.
  • A full match and event schedule.
  • A rubbish sack.
  • Other relevant information.

Tournament Rules
Please take time to make yourself familiar with the Tournament Rules (copy enclosed) and available online at www.brockham2014.brockhambadgersfc.co.uk.

Weather Precautions
June is one of the UK’s warmest and driest months (allegedly!).  Please would all Team Managers ensure players intake sufficient quantities of fluids throughout the day and rest when possible in the shade.  To help facilitate this all players and other children are entitled to unlimited and FREE squash or water at the BROCKHAM 2014 Squash Bar.  We also recommend protective sun cream is applied regularly.

Should we experience unusually wet weather the tournament will continue except for very extreme conditions.  It is advisable therefore that you check the weather forecast the day before the tournament and recommend to parents, players, and spectators to bring an umbrella and appropriate clothing for such an eventuality.
Gazebos and umbrellas are permitted but please position them at least 3m from pitch side.
